The Atoms have some star players hitting the ice to play ice hockey this year. The team is formed by Senior Josh Tobin, Senior TK Decareu, Freshman Oskar Carlson, and Sophomore Maxwell Jordan. The players play in the Capital Scholastic Hockey League (CHSL) and play along side West Springfield High School.
The strong four Atoms have been playing with West Springfield High School since October 13th, and have found succes gelling as a team and winning games.
Senior Josh Tobin added, “I think we all get along just like any other team.”
The Atoms and West Springfields team is coached by David King, who is a favorite of the Atoms.
“He’s not a very intense coach so it is pretty easy to play for him” added Senior, TK Decareu.
The team does not get the opportunity to practice together, but they meet up on Friday nights for their matches. Fans can go to the St James or Medstar Iceplex and support the Atoms.
Decareu added, “It is exciting when you see a small student section because normally we don’t play in front of one”
The four strong Atoms meet together to form a team and are fueled by their own motivations.
Tobin said, “It’s my last year in high school and I wanted to play hockey and represent Annandale one last time.”
The Atoms have been creating memories playing with CHSL and West Springfield since 2021.
Decearu said, “My favorite memory would have to be beating Bishop Ireton in a shootout during round 1 of the playoffs in front of their student section sophomore year”
If you are interested in playing with the Atoms and CHSL, you can contact any of the four players for more information.
