Who am I?- Issue 6
I was born in…
Los Angeles and raised in Northern VA. I’ve also lived in Paris, Connecticut, Minnesota and New York City.
I went to school at…
Mount Vernon High School, Yale University, Regent University and Love Center School of Ministry.
During the pandemic…
I worked on writing a book, cooking for my family, and learning how to do coaching online. I also worked on a ministry helping survivors of abuse.
Outside of school…
I love to write and I’m an ordained minister active in my church.
A fun fact about me is that…
I used to sing in a rock band and went on tour with them, I have studied French, Russian, German and Italian; and I have 5 kids aged 4-20.
I have been teaching in Annandale for…
3 awesome years.
Why did you decide to start teaching?
My mom was a teacher, so she was my first inspiration. After fighting the call, I started homeschooling my own kids, one of which had autism. This eventually led me into teaching in Woodbridge and then here in Fairfax County.
What’s your favorite thing about being a teacher?
I love meeting new people, encouraging students to believe in themselves and their futures and working with so many idealistic people. It’s a crazy, exhausting and wonderful job. I used to want to be a lawyer, singer, and I’ve done other things as well-but always find myself returning to education. It’s honestly a blessing and honor to interact with so many great kids on a daily basis.
