The future of the Marvel universe revealed in Timeless
The second outcome is Doyle Dormammu fighting Dormammu possibly in Strange Academy. Doyle Dormammu is a new character in Marvel comics first introduced in Strange Academy issue #1 written by Skottie Young and he’s the son of Dormammu. It appears that the two will fight and Doyle now possesses the Twilight sword. Very excited to see where this could go in Strange Academy with possibly Doyle killing his father and becoming the new ruler of the Dark Dimension.
The third outcome is Ben Reilly Spider-Man leaving New York City and moving to Los Angeles. After Peter Parker Spider-Man was put in the hospital after battling the U-Foes in Amazing Spider-Man issue #76 written by Zeb Wells, Ben Reilly took over as Spider-Man while Peter was recovering. During his time as Spider-Man, he even teamed up with Felicia Hardy Black Cat though she didn’t trust him during Death of Doctor Strange: Spider-Man issue #1 written by Jed Mackay. Interested to see where Marvel takes Ben Reilly next, I think it’s pretty cool that Ben Reilly is now an established Spider-Man getting more appearances and roles within Marvel comics now with him moving to Los Angeles.
The fourth outcome is a tease of the next Iron Fist. A new Iron Fist will be born replacing Danny Rand, the original Iron Fist. Though we don’t know who will take the mantle, it is pretty exciting to see a new Iron Fist in action. Not that Danny Rand is a bad character, it’s good to spice things up and having a new character be Iron Fist is pretty cool. Iron Fist issue #1 will be written by Alyssa Wong and will be released this month.
The fifth outcome is a new villain team lead by Taskmaster in a Captain America suit with Batroc the Leaper as a member. This could be Thunderbolts related, but I think a new villain team is a better choice. More Taskmaster usage is always nice and I like that we’re getting more villain groups for smaller scaled teams to face, especially with everything going on now in Devil’s Reign written by Chip Zdarsky.
The sixth outcome is the tease of Iron God who first appeared in Iron Man issue #15 written by Christopher Cantwell. After gaining the power cosmic on Taa II, Tony Stark becomes Iron God and faces off against Korvac who wants to take over the universe. Interested to see where Marvel takes Iron God next, my assumption would be that Iron God is a one story character and that Marvel will revert Tony Stark to being Tony Stark. I think Iron God is a dope looking character, but I think for right now having him fight Korvac as Iron God in his solo run and that being a one time thing fits better than trying to use the character in other stories that don’t necessarily work.
The seventh outcome is the moon exploding in what could be the start of the Reckoning War. Though we don’t know what the overall story is going to be, this does make sense as a way to kickstart the Fantastic Four’s newest event. Reckoning War is written by Dan Slott and will be released this month.
The eighth outcome is Orchis winning and the struggle of Krakoa, the island nation of mutants. It was revealed in Inferno issue #1 written by Johnathan Hickman that Orchis and Nimrod have planned multiple assaults on Krakoa. Very excited to see the future of X-Men in Marvel, Johnathan Hickman has done a great job with his runs on X-Men and reinventing the X-Men mythos in a whole new way. I’m hoping something huge will happen between Orchis and Krakoa; possibly a war between the two that could lead to total destruction.
The ninth outcome is Punisher allying himself with The Hand. Though we don’t know what this could mean, we’ll explore more of this in his current run Punisher written by Jason Aaron. Interesting to see Punisher working with The Hand, I would hope this ties into Chip Zdarsky’s Daredevil and maybe they’ll face off.
The tenth outcome is Captain America being shot by Bucky Barnes’ Winter Soldier. This is interesting, we don’t know what this could mean but I think it’s some sort of betrayal. Once again, I don’t think this is Thunderbolts related in any way but it is interesting that the two would meet like this. The likelihood this ties into Devil’s Reign is more plausible than it being Thunderbolts related. The eleventh outcome is a new Spider-Man and Black Panther team-up in the works. This is interesting because clearly, this is a new Spider-Man and Black Panther. I think this new Spider-Man could be Mary Jane or even Mayday Parker as we can see red hair, and I think this new Black Panther could be one of three characters: Shuri, Felicia Hardy although unlikely, or Storm. Storm could be likely as she is the divorced wife of T’Challa and former queen of Wakanda.
The twelfth outcome is the Jack of Hearts returns. Jack of Hearts is a former Avengers who died after he stopped a savage and berserk Jennifer Walters from killing the Avengers. His body was reanimated by Scarlet Witch during the events of Avengers: Disassembled written by Brian Michael Bendis. His return was seen in She Hulk issue #1 written by Rainbow Rowell. This is pretty exciting as Jack of Hearts hasn’t been used by Marvel since the mid 2000s and it makes me wonder if Jack will rejoin the Avengers. The final outcome is Thanos wielding Mjolnir infused with the Infinity stones.
Thanos was first seen wielding Mjolnir in Donny Cates’ Thor run, also controlling an army of undead heroes and villains as he proceeds to kill Thor. This is the biggest outcome so far, Thanos has done something to gain this new found power and we, as the audience, don’t know which is awesome because it builds the anticipation for what is about to unfold.
At the very end of the story, Marvel teases the introduction of Miracle Man in the Marvel Universe. Miracle Man was an original character for Fawcett Comics and originally named Marvelman who at the time during the 1950s was competing with Captain Marvel.
Miracle Man was created by Mick Anglo and first appeared in Miracle Man issue #25, Micky Moran was working for the Daily Record when he gained the power to tap into the universe from an astrologist. And by saying “Kimota,” Micky turns into Miracle Man. He’s also aided by his sidekicks Young Miracle Man and Kid Miracle Man. In many ways, Miracle Man is a rip off of Superman and Shazam in terms of power and origin which is fair considering when he was created, but hopefully this might change as Marvel dives a bit deeper into this character and makes him into his own thing.
As it currently stands, this is the future of the Marvel universe as Kang the Conqueror saw it. It’s definitely going to be interesting seeing how this unfolds and how it’ll line up with current stories in continuity.
