New restaurant Taco Rock worth a try

Taco Rock is the newest addition to Pinecrest Plaza with two other branches in Alexandria and Arlington.

They have a wide variety of dishes on their menu, ranging from burritos and tacos to nachos and many other authentic dishes.

Co-owner and chef Nick Cordero said they decided to open a second location because their first one did really well and they saw an opportunity here and took it.

“We’re trying to show all the neighbors over here that we’re a good fit and show them the type of food that we have to offer,” Cordero said. “Our menu is very unique and it could potentially benefit all our neighbors.”

The restaurant is in a great location, near Firehouse Subs and Starbucks. The staff was extremely friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. While waiting for your order, they have music playing all throughout the restaurant and a sports game shown on the big screens.

As for food, I got the birria tacos, elote, shake down shrimp taco and mango juice. Their birria tacos were okay, but they could use a bit more flavor and less mozzarella. The elote also could have used a bit more flavor.

The shakedown shrimp taco, however, was delicious. The shrimp was fried to perfection and had a hint of lime which added a great zest to it. Lastly, the mango juice was extremely sweet but quite refreshing.

“We put a lot of hard work and effort into this place, especially with the food and the menu,” Cordero said. “Our main goal is to make sure people are happy when leaving here.”

The restaurant seems to have pleased many in the community. They have 4.5 stars on Yelp and judging by the reviews, customers are delighted by the service and food that is provided.
