Fans shocked by death of another young rap artist
Fans of Jarad Anthony Higgins, also known famously as the rapper Juice WRLD, were utterly shocked on the morning of Dec. 8 when they heard the news of his death.
“It was such a horrible thing to wake up to the terrible news of his death waking up last Sunday,” sophomore Trisha Tran said.
The cause of death has been linked to multiple seizures, which occurred in Chicago’s Midway International Airport. He died just five days after celebrating his 21st birthday.
Authorities agree that the underlying cause of his seizures was consistent drug usage, which started to take a toll on his health when he reached national spotlight as a top artist.
Higgins started his career as a SoundCloud rapper in seventh grade under the name of JuicetheKidd. He then released his first track “Forever” to SoundCloud only four years ago.
However, his career started to catapult with the release of “Lucid Dreams” which eventually rose to the number two spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
“Juice WRLD is my second favorite rapper and his music was good. But it is just unfathomable that he died so unexpectedly the way he did. He was original and it just sucks that fans can no longer hear his music,” senior Drake Amaya said.
The worst part of it all is the fact that he died so young and was only at the beginning of a career that could have featured many albums to come.
“I am devastated that my favorite artist passed away,” junior Freddy Henriquez said. “He was very talented and he was going to do great things.”
Overall, even though he had an extremely short career, Juice WRLD left a legacy that will be remembered.
