Model United Nations Club
Have you ever been interested in learning more about role playing or making alliances with different “countries”? How about learning more about careers?
For example careers like foreign relations, international economics, international business or law. If so, this club is definitely something you could give a shot at.
Model UN club is a fun and great way to be able to participate in role playing and learning about a country’s roles. This club, sponsored by Mr. Zaret, is a very fun way for learning a lot more about different careers.
Model UN is a club that had started up years ago here at Annandale High and other schools. Although it did not have a sponsor for a while, it is now run by Mr. Zaret and it is definitely coming back to life.
“Model UN club is great for preparing kids to learn and get ready for different careers,” said Zaret. “They are interested in taking on like law or foreign relations and international of economics or international business.”
Last week, Mr. Zaret held an interest meeting and twenty-two students showed up because they were interested in joining Model UN club. Mr. Zaret runs Model UN club but Mr. York and Ms. Bishop have sponsored in the past and they now help him out a lot.
“Model UN club is kind of like Games Of Thrones without somebody getting killed or getting hurt,” said Zaret. “You are able to make alliances with people and also learn a lot about debate.”
“Model UN club is based on role playing.” He said. Basically how Model UN club runs is different schools take on the role of different countries and they have to research different positions that the country plays. Once they have done their research the students have to represent their country at Model UN clubs where the schools go with or against each other.
Unfortunately the club started to die down but Mr. Zaret decided to bring it back to life so other students could get the chance to participate in a fun club like this one.
As a student, Mr. Zaret was also someone who was involved in Model UN clubs and he really enjoyed it. So if you think this club is something you could consider joining or even if you feel like it is time to try something new, give Model UN club a shot. It could end up as your new favorite club.
