Leadership hosts Flick on the Field

Leadership hosted Annandale’s first Annual Flick on the Field on Monday, Oct. 19, in an attempt to try new things and add to the tradition at Annandale. Entry was free so that students would be encouraged to come.

This event marked the first of many activities that occur during homecoming week such as powderpuff, cheerleading finals, our First Annual Homecoming Tailgate and this year’s Homecoming football game versus the South County Stallions.

A projector on a cart displayed The Wizard of Oz on a movie screen rented from Hayfield Secondary School for $350.

The night proved to be a chilly one as temperatures fell below freezing. As a result, students and parents brought lawn chairs and blankets to be more comfortable at the showing of the movie and warm themselves up in the cold.

“I think the cold discouraged some people from coming but it was still really fun,” senior Naol Bayisa said. “I like how the movie went with the theme of Homecoming by showing a throwback movie rather than a modern one.”

Many students of all classes enjoyed themselves at this event as AHS students came together to relax and watch a movie.

“I think it was a great opportunity for Annandale to get along and bond through the use of movies,” junior Saud Shah said. “Events like Flick on the Field should happen more often because it is what unites the school as one.”

The next thing to look forward to is the First Annual Homecoming Tailgate which is promising to deliver an enjoyable time before the big game on Friday night.
