Ever since senior Jane Aman started playing soccer 12 years ago, she has held on to one unwavering goal – to compete at the intercollegiate level. On Feb 2, the countless hours she spent training her body and traveling around the country for tournaments finally brought her goal to fruition, as she signed to play Division 1 soccer with the College of William and Mary.
“Signing was a really big relief,” Aman said. “I’ve had a lot of support from a lot of people over the years, and I’m so happy to be where I am today.”
For Aman, the process of getting recruited began years ago. She worked her way from league to league, eventually coming to play in the Elite Clubs National League, which hosts many of the best teams in the country. Her current team, the FC Virginia U18 Explosion travels to Florida and Nevada annually for tournaments, during which they are exposed to various college coaches.
Aman’s big break came last year at their Disney Tournament in Florida.
“I was playing against the Japan Football Association Academy team,” Aman said. “Not only did we beat them, which was huge, it was one of the best games that I’ve ever had, It was that game that got me noticed by William and Mary.”
With her college recruitment officially over, Aman can focus on the rest of her high school soccer career. For more information about William and Mary soccer, click here.
