Freshman Olivia Franjie is eating lunch with her friend Alex when, all of a sudden, Alex takes a big bite out of his sandwich and begins talking to Olivia about his day, causing Olivia to be extremely annoyed.
“I hate it when people chew with their mouth open,” said Franjie. There are many things that may vex us. Some things we can bear, others are not too tolerable. AHS students are no exception to this rule, so what annoys AHS?
“My biggest pet peeve is people who say they’re going to call back, but they don’t,” said junior Josh Tascata. On the other hand, freshman Rahe Chowdhury gets annoyed when people talk too much. He says when that happens, he begins to drift off and block out the other person.
Some people, however, do not get annoyed so much by actions as by people themselves. For example, when asked what annoys her, sophomore Adeeba Rasoli said “Badou Hadidine.”
Several AHS students get annoyed by trivial matters. Junior Darwin Vargas, for example, said, “I get annoyed when people shake their legs up and down when they’re nervous, or are trying to pass time.”
Similarly, Muna Sharif gets irritated at the sight of boys standing at the mirror, especially when they do it more frequently than girls.
Freshman Autmn Nophawan gets annoyed by haughty people. “I hate it people who think they’re all that but they’re not,” she said.
“My biggest pet peeve is girls who gossip,” said Freshman Alaa Haj- Assaad.
Senior Meena Rahmanyar said she gets annoyed by “rude and disrespectful people;” something most people can relate to.
Another pet peeve that affects most people is illustrated by sophomore Paul Jamil.
“People who walk slowly in the hallway are really annoying,” he said. Likewise, sophomore Julietta Sole gets annoyed by people “blocking the hallway.”
As evident, some people have understandable pet peeves while others have rather irrational ones. Nevertheless, everyone will be annoyed by the actions someone may do at one point or another.
