Last weekend I went to the Toby Keith concert at Jiffy Lube Live with a bunch of my friends. Toby Keith is one of the most patriotic country singers so it was very moving to be able to see him perform on September Eleventh. When we arrived to the parking lot it was packed with all different kinds of people tailgating and blasting country music. Me and my friends, Paige and Julia, started cooking food on a grill and met up with more seniors from Annandale. We all had a great time eating and getting pumped to go into the concert.
When it was finally time to go watch Trace Atkins open for Toby Keith we packed up our cars and headed toward the gates. Lawn seats are always fun because the environment is very crazy. There were people everywhere, many decked out in red, white, and blue screaming for Toby to enter the stage. When he finally did the crowd went crazy and everyone stood up and began dancing to his opening song “American Ride.”
My friends and I were so excited to finally see Toby Keith and all of us were dancing with each other. The mood became very patriotic when Toby Keith called up many American soldiers onto the stage and sang his grand finale song, “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue.” The crowd screamed the words along with Toby and many people cried when he sang the words “Now this nation that I love is fallin’ under attack. A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.” The song refers to the attacks on September Eleventh so it was very sentimental to many people.
The concert was amazing and everyone there had an amazing time. It was sad when the concert ended though because we had to get into our cars and go back to the reality of homework and school.
