This year, the Gaylord hotel and resort’s annual ice sculpture event theme is a family favorite : DreamWorks’ Shrek the Halls which incorporates many of the movie’s favorite characters such as Fiona, Shrek and Donkey in the form of ice sculptures.
ICE! is a special event during the December holidays which incorporates five thousand blocks of ice that come to weight about two million pounds and are created by forty international artisans.
Visitors are cautioned to dress appropriately and warmly , as part of keeping the sculptures in ice form is maintaining a nine degrees Fahrenheit temperature in order for the sculptures to last until early January. In order to ensure maximum warmth for visitors, specially made coats are handed out to visitors upon entering the exhibit.
The hotel creates a structure of fifteen thousand square feet that is insulated in order to maintain the temperature leveled. This event starts from mid-November to early January and offers visitors the experience of roaming amongst the sculptures and taking pictures throughout the exhibit.
Tickets are $25-35 for adults, $20-30 for kids twelve and under and free for infants under three.
