1. Go see the National Christmas Tree at 15th Street NW in D.C. It has already been formally lit, but it is always a nice holiday treat to be able to see. We live so close to D.C., so why not take advantage of the great scene this tree offers? Plus, you can get a glimpse of monuments at night, which are always nicely lit as well.
2. Assemble and deliver some unique, inexpensive holiday gifts to your neighbors. These packages, such as a special brownie mix or a cute dinner idea, are a great way to get in the holiday spirit. Check out the gift ideas here.
3. Check out the Christmas display at the D.C. Botanical Gardens. This display features huge sculptures of monuments and buildings, such as the White House, that have been created entirely out of natural materials like sap, twigs and leaves. Address: 100 Maryland Avenue Southwest Washington D.C., District of Columbia 20024
4. See The Hobbit, which airs Friday Dec. 14. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser, so get your tickets in advance!
5. If you are into the alternative or artist scene, head to Arlington to check out Grump, a craft market. The market sells games, zombie shirts, toys and everything else you can imagine. Address: 1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA
