Your alarm clock rings and you realize you should get up, but five minutes won’t hurt. You click the snooze button and drift back to sleep. You later wake up to see that school is starting soon. You hurry to get ready and rush out of the house without eating anything. This is unfortunately common to most high school students. Many do not feel hungry yet or feel they have time. However, this is not good for them and could cause some teens to overeat in the next meal. Here is how to start getting used to eating breakfast.
1. Wake up on time or set up a time
Waking up on time is essential to having time to eat. With that, set up a time to sit down and eat. For non-breakfast eaters this should be around five to ten minutes to at least get something in your stomach.
2. Have pre-made breakfast
Cereal is an easy breakfast to have, but make sure it is not a sugary cereal. Try to pick a cereal that has lots of vitamins and fiber. Other small breakfast meals to have is yogurt, cheese and fruits. The night before, cut some apples, bananas and add in some grapes to have a fruit salad the next day.
3. Drink your breakfast
When you are in a rush, drink your breakfast instead of sitting down and eating it. This can be a smoothie, which is made the night before or a shake. At least have something like orange juice or milk to start your day.
4. On-the-go breakfast
When you travel to school take a pre-made breakfast with you if you feel like you do not have time. Something is better than nothing.
5. Start off small
If you have not eaten a proper breakfast before school in a while, then start with a small breakfast. Most people do not feel hungry, but get something down. This can be half and apple, or a handful of nuts. Starting with a huge breakfast after not eating a lot will probably not end good.
