When you have been slacking on your routine, it can be hard to transition back especially when there are SOLs, IB testing, projects to do and all the while trying to keep up with homework. Here are some ways to ease the transition:
1. Set out a time
Think back on how long your exercise routine used to be and free up a time to do it. Not having time is a main reason why people skip out on their exercise routine. When you set out a time most people will realize that they do have time, but they are wasting it doing something else. Have around 30 minutes to one hour free.
2. Shorten the routine
If you have not been exercising for a while, then suddenly going back to your routine may seem like too much at the moment. Shorten your routine by around 10-20 minutes to make it more easier. However, cutting down to half of it will probably be too much.
3. Create motives
A great motive is telling yourself that exercising will keep you healthy, other motives can be treating yourself to a healthy snack or letting yourself watch television for a bit longer than usual. Make sure your reward after completing your routine is not something unhealthy like eating a tub of ice cream. That will just counter the attempt to get exercise.
4. Do your routine with a friend
When you exercise, it can be a bit boring, but try exercising with a willing friend. This will also create a motivation because you will spend time with your friend. You can also put on some music if you usually don’t. If you feel like you do not have time because of school work then you can try studying while exercising. It may seem like a lot to do, but you will be able to get two things done at the same time.
Getting exercise is important and it can be easy to lose track of a routine. Getting back to it is vital so you can live a long and healthy life.
