Now that spring has sprung and the weather is beginning to warm up, it is important to remember to protect your body from the harmful rays of the sun. Following these guidelines can help you prevent skin damage of all types:
Use sunscreen- Applying a coat of sun protection factor (SPF) 15 or higher can block out almost 93 percent of harmful UV rays. Make sure to follow the instructions on the bottle and apply at proper times to get the product’s full effect.
Wear lip balm- Even lips can get sunburned, so look for a chap stick that includes sunblock. Apply liberally when out in the sun for any period of time.
Wear a hat- The face, ears, scalp and neck are covered when wearing a wide brimmed hat and can prevent direct sun exposure.
Use sunglasses- The sun can cause eye damage, but wearing shades specifically designed to block out UV radiation can help prevent this.
