In 1908, James Madison University, formerly known as Madison College, was founded in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The campus is located in a urban area that is 714 acres. James Madison offers a wide range of clubs from a scuba diving club to a film club. JMU also has a strong program for students to study abroad to places like Antwerp, Belgium, Beijing, Florence, London, Salamanca and Spain.
JMU’s sports teams are in the NCAA Division One level. Freshmen are required to live on campus their first year. The majority of classes will have 20-50 students.
