Holocaust survivor Henry Greenbaum spoke for about an hour about his experiences in concentration camps and in the Jewish Death March.

“They told us ‘We are Americans and you all are free,’" Greenbaum recounts.

On April 25, 1945, Greenbaum was liberated during the march by an American armored division.

Greenbaum gestures to demonstrate how a bullet had grazed his head during an escape attempt..

Settling in the USA after his liberation, Greenbaum to this day has not returned to Poland.

Greenbaum lost most of his immediate family during his 5 years as a prisoner.

Towards the end of the war, Greenbaum and other prisoners of the Buna camp were sent on a Death March towards Dachau.

Mr. Greenbaum lost his sister Faige during the this escape attempt.

Greenbaum's weight dropped to just 75 pounts during the death march.

Born in Poland, Greenbaum was relocated to a ghetto at age 12.

“God sent us down an angel: an American tank came,” Greenbaum said.

Greenbaum spent time at the notorious Auschwitz concentration camp before being moved to Buna.

Greenbaum describes his experiences in various concentration camps.

Greenbaum speaks to AHS students and faculty about his experience during the Holocaust. The retelling lasted for almost 1 hour and Greenbaum took questions from the audience afterwards.

National English Honor Society Co-President Abby Barnes provides a brief summary of Mr. Greenbaum's life and introduces him to the stage.
