Field Hockey
The field hockey team continues to dominate the National District by winning their second championship in three years against Justice. They finished with a 17-5 record. The team beat Robinson with a score of 2-1 in the first round of regionals, but lost in the semifinals against Woodson getting outscored 3-1. They look forward to continuing their success next season, however it may be a challenge as they say goodbye to nine seniors.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball debut season was very successful. With a large roster of 17 players, the team finished with an 11-9 record. The Atoms beat Falls Church in the district quarterfinals and Hayfield in the semifinals, however, they lost in the district finals 3-2 against the talented Thomas Jefferson team. The season did not end there as the team pulled off an upset win against James Madison High School in the first round of regionals. The season ended with a tough loss to McLean High School on 11/7. The team hopes to grow their success in the years to come.
Cross Country
The cross country pre-season had a lot of new freshmen come out. Practices continued into the regular season where the team improved every race. The team had multiple invitational meets, including the whole team going down to Richmond to compete. Everyone had ups and downs throughout the season but ultimately, they all made amazing improvements. Both teams competed great at districts and regionals and are starting to form a solid team for years to come.
Football
The football team matched their 2023 season with a 2-8 record. Injuries plagued many of the players this season. They were hopeful to improve from last year, but lost in a heartbreaking fashion in the last minute to Rock Ridge on 11/8.
Golf
The golf team had one of the largest rosters in past years with lots of young talent joining, which promises a hopeful future for the program. The team placed 5th in the National District. Cole Cardwell, Carter Demers, and Quinn Mongold represented the team at the Occoquan Region match on 10/7.
Girls Volleyball
The girls volleyball team finished their season with a 8-15-1 record. They were able to close out the regular season with a win against Mount Vernon before heading into the post season to lose to Thomas Jefferson and Woodson. The team is very optimistic about next season as they will have many returning players.
