AHS set to hold physical night for student athletes
On May 31, AHS will be providing sports physicals to athletes and band members for the 2023-2024 school year.
Any students who would like to participate in any sport or band next year will need a valid VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2023, and this is a perfect opportunity for students to knock it out prior to the deadline.
The event will be held at 6 p.m., and the physicals will make students eligible for all sports across all seasons next school year. The event will be held at AHS, and student athletes should enter the door through door seven by the cafeteria.
A physical will cost $40 for pre-registration and $50 per walk-in appointment. Walk-ins are taken on a first come, first serve basis, so AHS encourages students and their parents to sign up online to ensure a spot in the screening process on May 31.
Physicals can be paid for online via credit card on https://www.myschoolbucks.com/, and a sign-up genius will be made available to students soon.
Payments are considered a donation to the athletic training program at AHS. This allows the training program to invest in new equipment and continue to provide state of the art equipment care for athletes and band members here at AHS.
Coaches and teams highly encourage student-athletes to come out on May 31 to get their physicals done so that they are no longer a concern as off-season workouts, tryouts, and ultimately the 2023-24 season begins.
“Its beneficial for our student-athletes because it allows them to get their physicals in now rather than running to a doctor before tryouts next year,” director of student activities Brandon Sutphin said.
