Washington Wizards beat the Dallas Mavericks
The Washington Wizards improved to 13-7 last night after a thriller win against the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines center.
The Washington Wizards who were playing without their starting point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, were able to pick up a win thanks to clutch plays from center Daniel Gafford and Kyle Kuzma.
Wizards superstar Bradley Beal had paved the way for the Wizards with a team high 26 points, seven assists and two steals. Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic had a masterpiece on the offensive side of the game with a game high 33 points and 10 assists.
The Washington Wizards had struggled to the paint early in the first quarter which led Mavericks forward Maxi Kleber to score over 10 points in the first half and cause them to trail the Mavericks by seven at half.
In the second half the Wizards had been trailing by 9 and went on a 11-0 run to lead by two with three minutes left in the third.
A few of the Wizards bench players had a positive impact on the court which allowed them to be in a close game with the Dallas Mavericks. Raul Neto led the Wizards bench with 13 points and six assists which helped the Wizards get good shots. Ball movement was seen from both teams in this game especially on the Dallas side where the Mavericks had scored on open 3 point shots.
Late in the 4th quarter Daniel Gafford had made clutch rebounds and defensive stops which created momentum for Kyle Kuzma to drain a clutch 3 to give the Wizards the lead and later on win the game. The main keys to the game were getting late stops on the defensive ends, drawing fouls and attacking the paint in which both teams did.
The Washington Wizards are on a roll with two wins on their four game road trip and are currently tied for the second best record in the eastern conference meanwhile the Dallas Mavericks fall to 10-8.
