Field hockey team places in tournament
Over the past two days, the varsity field hockey team played in the second Annual Justice Field Hockey Tournament.
Previously, the team played at a tournament hosted by Lake Braddock HS.
Two games were held yesterday, where the Atoms lost against Justice 5-3. However, the team came back to beat Wilson HS 5-0.
“Our hardest game was when we played against Justice,” Team Captain and senior Emily Shawish said. “After that game, we figured out what we needed to work on to improve our teamwork and passing.”
Today, the team played against Lee HS, winning 7-1. Following that game, they beat Wakefield 3-0, finishing the tournament in third place.
“Today, we worked a lot as a team, and that made Coach [Hook] happy, and that’s definitely what helped us win twice,” senior Lamis Osman said.
The Atoms spent the summer preparing immensely to improve and do better as a team.
“We’ve been talking about our goals a lot,” Shawish said. “We just want to improve, and I want to see what all of our effort come out at these games. We also want to have fun because we play so much better when we do.”
