Tennis Finishes off the Season with a Smashing Success
After a long successful season, Annandale kicks off regionals with an outstanding performance from Girls’ Tennis, managing to get second in regular season standings.
“This year, I am proud of tennis for doing their best in years. This year’s AHS Girls tennis season was the biggest and best in decades,” coach Hassan Mims said.
The district tournament was also a huge success for the team, with Jasmine Phan being able to defeat one of the tournaments best players in the first round, and both Jasmine Phan and Yvonne White were able to defeat another extremely good doubles team in the first round. Ashleen Lee has gotten District Player of the Year for the second time in a row, and along with Ashleen Lee, Cindy Ma have gotten 1st in in Doubles.
“There were no shortcomings this year. The team was very committed and had become better Singles and Doubles players because of it,” coach Mims said.
For the regional tournament, Coach Mims hopes to compete well, focus, and keep up the intensity that they’re playing at and go beyond what they can do.
“Next season we hope to see them thrive and reach greater heights that they could never reach before,” coach Mims concluded.
