Last Volleyball home game and senior night
As fall sports are coming to a close, volleyball had it’s last home game of the season. Not only was it the last home game, but it was senior night as well.
After experiencing what was her last home game at Annandale with her other teammates senior volleyball player Jessica Roop said “I am going to miss the team the most, as well as the games”.
Unfortunately, Annandale lost all three sets with scores of 20-25, 19-25, and 21-25 against Mount Vernon. But Annandale gave it all they got when junior Zain Ghul blocked the ball.
Roop, who’s been on the volleyball all four years and varsity team for two years says “That was probably one of the best games my team has played, we were hitting very well”.
Roop dived and fell, but saved the ball. There were many strong hits, phenomenal serving and plenty of aces.
The juniors really put their best efforts into it, it was definitely a night to remember that the class of 2018 players will cherish.
There was a lot of tears shed and happy moments and happy memories shared. “Senior night was really fun because I have been looking forward to it since freshmen year, we didn’t have to do anything except show up to the game ready to play. It was exciting to have everyone come out and celebrate your accomplishments together. I got treated to a three course meal, we recieved cake, sashes, crowns and lots of candy. It felt nice to have everything prepared for us and to be treated special” said Jessica Roop.
Although senior Roop enjoys playing volleyball with her team she thinks about her life after high school and says “As much as I love volleyball I don’t wanna play any sports in college”.
Freshman libero Jayden Joya enjoyed senior night so much and said “Senior night looked like it was really fun and I was think about it saying man I wish I was a senior”. The freshman team did very well in the second set, they had a comeback with hits and sets by Jayden Joya and Emma.
As the season is wrapping up the volleyball team is preparing for their district game against Mount Vernon and still making sure to have fun by having a Halloween themed practice. The game will be on October 30th at Mount Vernon High School.
