Cross Country advances to regionals
Yesterday, Annandale High School’s cross country boys and girls team went to regionals. Both teams went against many good schools, but both the girls and boys team landed two first place winners.
The varsity team got fourth place at districts and moved on to regionals yesterday.
Julia Ghiselli, a freshman star on the girls varsity cross country team, got first place with a great time of seventeen minutes and twenty three seconds. The Annandale girls cross country team got fourth place out of five teams.
Mikyas Salhu, another runner on varsity, placed first at regionals with a time of fifteen minutes and fifty six seconds. His team got first place out of five.
Three of Annandale’s boy runners were top five in the district. Those runners are Mikyas Sahlu in first place, Abbey Yared in fourth place, and Ethan Zimmerman in fifth place.
The boys cross country team beat West Potomac High School by four points which is really close but also beat Hayfield High School, T.C. Williams High School and Mount Vernon High School.
Both of our teams did a really amazing job, and are having a very good season so far. Hopefully, they will perform just as well, if not better, next Thursday.
