Spring sports hold Green Days

As the winter season for the Atoms is coming to a close, Spring sport athletes are preparing for their season.

Spring sport green days have started and are recommended for players to go to so you can prepare for the season.

With green days, there also comes a risk of injury before the season starts. Due to this, many sports do non-contact practices to prevent any injuries before the season. Many players believe that having non-contact green days is better for their bodies.

Green days can really help out or impact a team’s season. Many coaches such as the head men’s lacrosse coach, Bill Maglisceau, run green days so the players can get to know each other and build team chemistry and skill before the season starts.

Sophomore soccer player Anissa Cheikh is looking forward to playing her second year on varsity.

“Green days are fun because you get a chance to practice and get to know people before the season starts,” said Cheikh.

Another spring athlete who is looking forward to green days is Junior lacrosse player Brent Escueta.

Escueta has played varsity Lacrosse for the past two years and is looking forward to his third year.

“Green days are really important, they help us develop as a team and get us a head start on the season so we can hit the ground running come Feb. 20,”  Escueta said.

Junior, Grace Hatch has played two years of varsity Lacrosse and is looking forward to her third season coming next week.

“I like green days because it’s a chance to play a sport you enjoy playing with others who enjoy playing and improving your skills at the same time,” Hatch said.
