Q&A with Ashley Britton
How does it feel to be an All-American?
I feel very grateful to be named an All-American, especially to my teammates for working so hard this past spring and for making it such a fun season. Also all of our coaches, specifically Coach Hook for everything that she does to guide us and her passion for the game. She has helped me unconditionally and has gotten me to where I am. But above all, I give all the glory and honor to God who provides me with strength and the ability to actually play. He is the reason why I step out on the field and he is who I live and compete for.
How long have you been playing lacrosse?
I have playing since I was six years old in first grade, so I think I 11 years.
What has been your favorite thing about playing lacrosse?
My favorite thing about lacrosse is the aggressive nature of the game and the face-paced action. But at Annandale, lacrosse is particularly awesome because of the positive environment that radiates throughout the team.
What was your greatest accomplishment this season?
For the team, our greatest accomplishment this season was making it to regionals, because we all really wanted it and showed every time we played.
How do you prepare in the off-season?
I play lacrosse all year-round, so there is never really an off-season.
What motivates you to do so well at lacrosse?
I write God on my wrist before every game to remind me why I play, so whenever I feel weak or unmotivated, I look for that and it pumps me up.
What are your goals for next season?
My goal for next season is to take the conference one game at a time, because we have the ability to bring home the championship and I want to make the most of all of our team’s talent.
