Despite an early lead, baseball to the Woodson Cavaliers 13-6 for this week’s Game of the Week.
After being in the lead in the first and second inning, the Atoms lost momentum and started to play a game with a weaker offense. However, the Atoms kept Woodson’s runs down to a minimum and held their own.
“I think we did alright last night, we showed that we have the talent to hang with anyone in the district but we just have play more consistent and finish out games better,” junior Ben Torpey said.
Having a strong beginning to the game gives the team promise for upcoming games. After scoring three runs in the first two innings against Woodson, the Atoms couldn’t stop the fiery Cavaliers as they continue to score 11 more points. The Atoms only scored three more runs throughout the rest of the game.
“We need to stick together and believe in and execute what we’ve been coached to do,” junior Tyler Pacak said “We need to think positively and forget about our mistakes and move on and be ready for the next one.”
Baseball will play Lee High School at home on April 9 at 6:30pm.
