As the 2012-2013 school years kicks off, the AHS Atoms are gearing up once again for the football season with plenty of school spirit. Atoms like sophomore Diva Chowdhary are planning to show their pride from the stands.
“I’m really looking forward to all the school spirit and excitement at all the pep rallies and games,” Chowdhary said.
Students and teachers alike are making plans to encourage the team, by either attending the games or showing spirit in the school hallways.
“I like wearing spirit wear to show my support,” said senior Katie Mock.
Faculty members dress out in Atom wear, too.
“I always wear my favorite senior’s jersey on game days,” psychology teacher Whitney Dunning said.
Even the new freshmen are getting into the spirit.
“I think football is gonna rock!” freshman Madeline Coelho said.
Lidya Webet, another freshman, plans to attend games, too. “I’m going to go to all the games. I’ll cheer for them!” Webet said.
As for the team’s prospects, their peers and teachers have high hopes for the season.
“I know some of the guys on the team, and I know one thing for sure: they won’t go down without a fight,” sophomore Steve Aderton said.
The AHS community is hopeful that this season will showcase not only the players’ fighting spirit, but also their solidarity as a team.
“I’m looking forward to seeing my senior boys go out strong and for them to be great examples for the younger kids,” Dunning said.
Throughout AHS, students and staff are welcoming the start of football season. “I’m definitely looking forward to this season,” said junior Doreen Tetteh. “Go Atoms!”
