Every child who has played a sport has at some point envisioned themselves continuing and competing at the next level. For senior Alex King, who recently signed with Virginia State University to play softball, this is becoming a reality.
The decision to play softball at the division two school was an easy one to make for King.
“I liked the school and they gave me a good scholarship,” King said.
King has been playing softball for the last ten years, and has played four years of varsity softball at Annandale.
“The coaches [at AHS] have been amazing they have really helped me grow,” King said. “I like to thank my family and friends for supporting me.”
King played catcher at AHS and this season earned second team all district honors for her play despite the concussion she suffered midway through the season.
“My experiences at AHS have helped prepare me for softball as well as life,” King said. “[They] have taught me about teamwork and the game.”
