A blast from the past
The journey to becoming the award-winning newspaper it is now has been a long one for The A-Blast.
It all began in 1954 when the newspaper known as The A-Blast was simply named Annandale News. It wasn’t until the following year that they officially changed the name to The A-Blast Newspaper.
As technology became more advanced, the A-Blast didn’t miss a beat. They progressed from typewriters to computers and from a six page newspaper once a month, to a twenty page newspaper every three weeks.
With social media becoming more popular, the A-Blast staff keeps on changing the newspaper to evolve with the culture of American youth. It now has an online website, Twitter and Instagram account, to keep in touch with students through all means possible. Student involvement in The A-Blast has always been important. It truly is a newspaper run by the students, for the students.
