The Antenna on sale for preorder

The AHS yearbook, The Antenna, has finished production for the 2023-2024 school year and is available to buy on yearbookforever.com for preorder and can be bought in person in the PubLab, room 262, after school starting May 20.

Planning for this year’s yearbook began last year, when the class came together and brainstormed ideas for a theme.
Eventually, they agreed upon the theme “True to You.”

“It basically centers around what makes a person unique and what characterizes them as a person,” said junior and Antenna Managing Editor Margo Tran. “It’s about the events of our past that shape our identities and the valuable moments in life that we should always remember.”

This year, production was structured around five deadline assignments, where everyone was assigned spreads that had to be done by each deadline.

There were also 40% and 60% deadlines where editors and team leaders met to finalize each spread.

The Antenna covers a wealth of topics from over the course of the school year.
Some of the main features this year include spreads on homecoming, trends, CIEE, and academics throughout the year.

A spread on concerts and music was the favorite of the Antenna’s three Editors in Chief, senior Erica Lewis, who made it at the beginning of the year.

“I liked it because it showed a personality which may not be seen as much in other spreads,” Lewis said.
The yearbook requires a large staff, featuring a variety of positions, like editor in chief, team leaders, copy editors, social media manager, and staff members.

“I am an Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook and created most of the design aspects of the book. As an editor, I help tie the book together and make sure the spreads are cohesive and meet the standards. I also guide staff in completing spreads and help lead the class,” said Lewis.

Lewis added that being on staff allows her to connect with students she may not have otherwise.

Another essential position is managing editor.

“I stand as a source for other staff members when they have any questions and I have the responsibility of making everyone’s press passes,” said Tran, whose favorite part about being on staff is being a part of a group that creates and documents memories for the student body. “Next year, however, I will be one of the three editors in chief.”

Students often complain about the seemingly high price of the yearbook. However, when you look at the big picture, it is undeniably worth it, Antenna staff say.

“You should buy a yearbook so that in the future when you want to look back on your high school years, you have something tangible to reminisce on,” Lewis said. “Even this year when I was approving and finalizing spreads, I realized that I had forgotten some of my favorite core moments at school.”
