Traffic stirs up trouble for students and staff
Morning traffic is a constant endeavor in many people’s lives. At AHS student drivers, teachers, buses and parents have to deal with a lot of morning traffic to get to school.
“I feel like the traffic congestion at AHS is really difficult to deal with since the layout of the road was made in a really inconvenient way for drivers,” senior Taylor Nugen said. “There are also a lot of pedestrians in the morning that make traffic take a bit longer to clear up as well. I feel, at least, the school recognizes the problem and is trying to relieve congestion in the mornings.”
Many students leave earlier than they normally would to make sure they are not late because of the traffic.
“Morning traffic is always very congested. I have to leave my house at 7:30 a.m. to make it to school on time,” senior Kate Chrestman said. “I would say it’s very stressful how long it takes to get to school in the morning, but if you plan accordingly, you will make it to school on time every day.”
Since FCPS went back to in-person instruction, the amount of cars has only increased because more people are leaning away from taking the bus.
Many families see taking school buses as an unnecessary risk with Covid-19 still present.
