Erik Healey to be new Director of Student Services
The school will be welcoming Erik Healey as the new Director of Student Services, effective July 1, 2020. Previously, Healey was the Assistant Principal and the Director of Counseling at Arlington Career Center.
Healey has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics at Colorado State University as well as a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision at the University of Virginia. He is in the process of earning his doctorate in Educational Leadership.
As Assistant Principal at his former institution, Healey was a part of the creation of the STEM/CTE program and of a more effective way to track student progress.
While Healey was the Director of Counseling, he drove the student services team to continue being a Recognized ASCA Model Program while also monitoring and preventing dropouts.
Healey was successful in creating more opportunities for students, like a learning internship for all seniors. He was also Senior Class Sponsor for 5 years and was recognized as the 2011 Bull Run District Volleyball Coach of the Year. He has profoundly supported students not only in the classroom but outside of it too.
Due to being unable to meet his colleagues in person, Healey recorded a video introducing himself which was sent to the faculty and staff.
“I feel lucky to be able to have the opportunity to be a part of this diverse community of students and educators,” Healey said.
Paula Disalvo, previous Director of Student Services who will be greatly missed, will be returning to Woodson High School towards the end of June.
