NOVA offers free online classes for rising and graduating seniors
Approximately 70,000 high school students will be able to take up to two select classes online tuition-free over the summer. The six courses offered are Cloud Computing: Infrastructure and Services, Quantitative Reasoning, History and Appreciation of Art, Introduction to Communication, College Composition I, and World Civilization II.
This program was started using institutional dollars from the federal stimulus provided to Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) as an opportunity to give students a headstart in their academic pursuits. The specific courses mentioned fulfill NOVA degree requirements and also transfer well to other colleges and universities.
“I’m not sure if I’ll do it, but I think it’s a good opportunity for students, especially during the situation we’re in right now,” junior Haleluya Worku said.
The online summer session begins on June 1, 2020 and ends on July 15, 2020. An application is due by May 15, 2020. To learn more and apply, click here.
UPDATE: Due to overwhelming demand, these classes will now only be offered to graduating seniors. Rising seniors who applied on or before April 29 will still be eligible if they are qualified.
