Could hair dye lead to breast cancer?
Nowadays it is all the rave to dye your hair, and change your style. To most, the only real dangers of dying your hair is staining the rug, or ending up with a color you hate and are then stuck with for a few weeks.
But recently, new studies have come to discover that there might be more dangers to dying your hair than we all previously thought.
When someone dyes their hair, the last thing they are thinking about is getting breast cancer. But soon, that might be a reasonable concern.
Recent studies show that one possible cause of breast cancer is the exposure to certain chemicals, and hair dye by itself has something over 5,000 chemicals in it.
According to researchers at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, they have discovered that women who use permanent hair dyes and chemical forms of hair straightener are more likely to develop breast cancer than those who do not.
There are studies that have shown that 33% of women over the age of 18 dye their hair. Most chemical straighteners are used by African American women, and almost 75% of those women use the straighteners.
But there has been no study showing what percentage of those women have actually developed any form of breast cancer.
With the 5,000 chemicals inside hair dye, there are some that are considered hormone distributors.
Alongside that, they discovered that the use of semi permanent or temporary dye has little to no risk relating to breast cancer.
When all of this is considered, it is clear to see that maybe people should be more wary about changing up her hair.
