Boys State application is around the corner
Every year, former Boys and Girls State attendees visit junior year history classes in search of new recruits for the programs.
Juniors are informed about each individual’s experience with Boys or Girls State while also learning about the basic criteria for acceptance.
In addition to student talks, information on the programs will be run through the TV announcements and displayed around the school on flyers.
The application for both Boys and Girls state will be due on Feb. 1 and students must complete all portions of the application in order to be considered.
The application contains an essay portion and it is important to note that not all of those who apply will be selected.
This year, applying students must respond to the prompt, “What are the responsibilities of citizenship in America and how do you personally plan to meet those responsibilities in your future?”
Both programs will be held from June 21-27 at Radford for Boys and Longwood for Girls.
Applications should be submitted to Counselors Mark Vitelli and Stacey Marville.
Both programs provides students with a great experience of both independence and learning.
