Lang and Lit Students visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture
Juniors in Leslie Checkin’s Lang and Lit 1 class attended the National Museum of African American History and Culture on November 20, 2019. This museum is located in Washington D.C. in the National Mall.
The requirement of attending this field trip is that students were required to have a permission slip signed. This field trip was planned to give background knowledge to the two plays they will be reading in the future. These two plays are The Amen Corner and Fences.
“The museum was fascinating and held African American cultural history from a lot of different time periods. It was a fun experience, especially because it was my first time going,” junior Mariam Ahmadi said.
“African American history and culture are very important parts of this curriculum and will be needed not only this year when we read books like Fences by August Wilson,” Checkin said.
“I enjoyed the experience and I was glad to learn about different African American cultures and arts,” junior Dinan Sayed said.
