AHS students attend Alcanza College Fair
Students from Annandale visited George Mason University on October 23, 2019 to check out hundreds of colleges and universities from all across the country. Some universities that were present there were George Washington University, University of Florida, University of Pittsburgh, University of North Carolina, and many more.
To be able to go to the field trip, students had to fill out a field trip form where you can get it from the career center. Anyone who turned in the field trip form was eligible to go to the college fair. The field trip forms were due October 11th to the career center.
The Alcanza College Fair held 150 colleges where students from different high schools came and spoke to the representatives from that certain college. Students got to ask questions about the college’s scholarship plan, their GPA and test score requirements and their financial aid. Students also got little flyers to take with them for more information.
“I really enjoyed talking to them because I found out information that I didn’t know like what their scholarship program was and when to start applying,” junior Tsenat Efren said.
“It was really fun to see different colleges not just from here in Virginia but also different colleges from like Pennsylvania and Florida,” junior Mark Scrivener said.
