Fall For Fairfax KidsFest coming this month

On Oct 5 and 6, the Fairfax County Government Center will be hosting a Fall for Fairfax KidsFest. The Fall for Fairfax KidsFest is an annual fall festival intended for kids of all ages to come and have fun.

On Oct 5, the fair will be from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m, and on the 6th, it will be from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Tickets for the festival are $14-$23 if you order in advance online, but if you wait and buy it on site, prices will be higher.

During the festival, there will be many kid-friendly activities. Many of the activities include pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, pony rides, and a petting zoo. In addition, the festival will also have amusement rides perfect for kids ages 2 and older featured in the KidWay MidWay.

For entertainment, there will be various performance groups that display Fairfax County’s many diverse cultures.

You can never have a festival without food, so this year, the festival will have dozens of food stalls with delicious food for you to try. Many of the stalls will also offer healthy food options so you won’t have to worry about what you eat.

“This festival sounds really fun and exciting,” sophomore Tanya Jain said.  “I have a little brother and this event sounds like something he would really enjoy.”

In addition to being a fun event you can take your family to, the festival will also be a great service learning opportunity for any highschoolers.

“I think this is a good service learning opportunity because it lets you do something fun, but also help the community,” student volunteer Kushmita Kaur said.

Students can sign up as volunteers for different stations where they will interact with kids and help them complete the activities.  “I hope to help brighten some kids’ day,” student volunteer Joscelyn Ventura said.

In return for volunteering, students will receive 3-3.5 hours of community service to count towards any service learning requirements.
