3. 2. 1. GO!

Nintendo is heading straight for the smartphone world. Having a number of games already released they have come out with another one. They have just released the new free game Mario Kart Tour on mobile devices. It officially launched on Wednesday, September 25 for both iOS and Android devices.

“I preordered it a while ago and played it this morning and I’ve liked it so far,” said Sophomore, David Llanos, who has played previous games on the Wii U. “Having it on mobile is especially useful because you can carry it everywhere. A bunch of people already preordered it too so it’s nice they’re expanding their demographic. I’m hoping for it to be as good as the other games and include multiplayer.”

Players that downloaded the app the night of September 24 were stopped by a surprising maintenance message that stated it will be ready to play at 3 am on Wednesday morning.

“It definitely gives me vibes of old games from before.” voiced Sophomore, Aaliyah Alva, an experienced gamer that has played it on GameCube, Wii, and DS. The mobile game offers defining characteristics that resemble other Mario games, however, there are some differences.

For starters, as mentioned before, there isn’t a multiplayer mode. For a game such as Mario kart, made to be played with friends and family, it just wasn’t complete without it. “I’m hoping for it to have more levels, characters, harder challenges, and obviously for it to come out with multiplayer.”

The game is played in a vertical position unlike many of the other Nintendo’s video games. But the game is quite flexible, there are different control settings if the player wishes to have a different experience. “This game is an alternative for those who don’t have a Nintendo console,” said Aaliyah Alva.

Many have found it enjoyable, competing with each other with a scoring system that is accessible when level 4 is reached. We will have to wait and see if there are any new changes to the game.
