Filament to hold auditions for first Coffee House of the year

Band Chicken N Waffles plays at a Coffee House event from last year.

The Filament, which produces the literary magazine annually, is planning to host an audition for this year’s first Coffee House on Sept. 25 from 3:30 to 4:30 in the Lecture Hall.

Coffee House is a chance for people with artistic skills to present their abilities in a public forum. Past performances include poetry, short stories, mini plays, and songs.

People who want to audition should bring any music clips and hard copy of works to be performed, if needed.

Last year, The Filament received a grant from the National Education Association, which they plan to use for more community outreach.

“We plan on holding Coffee Houses at the local middle schools,” Filament Co-Adviser Leslie Chekin said. “I’m really excited for this school year.”
