Key Club plans for a big year
As the school year continues, students are starting to grow accustomed to life at AHS. As most students are getting familiar with their teachers and fellow peers, now is the time that students express interest in various clubs and honor societies.
One club that has grown much more popular this year is Key Club. At the interest meeting today, officers were pleasantly surprised by the large turnout.
Key Club is a student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership.
“I was pretty ecstatic about the turn out and I’m excited for all the new people to join,” Key Club President Megan Le said.
Key Club has a lot of things in store for members this year and officers are excited to get the year going.
Some opportunities that Key Club is offering include a trip to Kings Dominion, a 5k run/1k walk, food packaging, furniture movings and GIVE tutoring. All Key Club initiatives aim to raise money and help the community.
In addition, the AHS Key Club is partnering with Lake Braddock for a Dance-a-thon charity event hosted in February.
“The interest meeting really got me excited about what’s to come for Key Club,” Senior Allauna Harrison said.
“It seems like there will be plenty of engaging service opportunities,” Harrison said.
