The Annual Atoms 5k is back! The run will take place on Mother’s day, Sunday May 14th. The race will start at AHS at 8:30AM.

The course runs through the surrounding neighborhood and ends back on school grounds. The Atoms 5k is a community event opened to all runners and walkers around the Annandale area. You can register yourself online through the Annandale athletics website. Packet pickup, pre-registration, and in-person registration check-in will open at 7:30AM on race day.

T-shirts, raffle tickets, and refreshments will be available for purchase to all runners. All proceeds from the event go towards Annandale Athletic Programs and College Scholarships. Top placing runners will be rewarded with trophies and medals. The award ceremony will take place on the stadium field. The event is a fun way to interact with others in your community, while getting a workout! Experience is not needed, anybody who wants to, can participate.

Last year the race was won by an AHS Junior, Dagim Tigabu.

“I enjoyed winning and having fun with my friends after the race,” said Tigabu. “I recommend to start training for it two weeks before and arrive an hour early to warm up and stretch. We hope to see you at the starting line!”
