2016 IB Graduation Ceremony
The restless nights and stressful days, filled with loads of academic responsibilities, has finally paid off for the IB graduates in the class of 2016. On Jan. 4th the fourteenth annual International Baccalaureate graduate forum and recognition ceremony was held in the AHS auditorium.
A majority of the 47 IB graduates were present for the ceremony. The hour long program was split up into two parts, the first thirty minutes was given to a panel discussion lead by the graduates. During the panel discussion the graduates were able to explain the best and worst aspects of their IB experiences and the silver lining that came with the completion.
“Working for the IB diploma was definitely worth it because of the work ethic I was able to gain from it; however, having it as a name hasn’t really been that helpful” 2016 IB graduate Jennifer Kang said. “ I worked so hard for it but it’s good to get it even though it’s just a piece of paper.”
Kang noted that there are some downfalls to the program, not all the class count in college.
“It counted toward a couple classes, but compared to AP it hasn’t really done that much.” Kang said.
The second thirty minutes was dedicated to the IB class of 2016 recognition ceremony. Assistant principal, Mr. Aaron Schneider gave the welcome speech at the ceremony. There was also a number of other faculty speakers, including Dr. Timothy Kelly, and Ms. Holmes awarded out the certificates.
Sanila Tabassum elaborated on how a large part of the IB experience at AHS helped her in college.
“ The extended essay made a lot of my bigger essays in college easier to take on.”
Congratulations to the IB class of 2016.
