Around 200 Atoms took to the street this morning to protest President-elect Donald trump.  Trump has made homophobic, racist and misogynistic statement that some students find offensive and false, so they decided to protest. Annandale was recently named the most diverse school in Virginia, by Niche.com, due to this differentiating student body many students were upset by Trump’s election victory.

Several seniors started planning for the peaceful protest early last week and promoted it through social media and flyers throughout the hallways. The demonstration was not an attempt to change Trump’s victory, but rather to express views and opinions in and to show the Annandale is a community the accepts anyone despite race, religion, culture or sexual orientation. Anyone was welcome to join and voice their opinion, so long as they did it peacefully.

Students who participated considered the protest to be a success and local news stations featured it in their broadcasts.
