Career Center College Vistits
One of the best resources to get information about different colleges is to visit our Career Center.
In the following months, career center would have many college visits from different places of the United States, with this opportunity you’ll be able to get different material that will help you to think about which university or college you are interested in.
To be able to attend you will have to ‘sign up’ through Family Connection and print the page that shows that you are attending, that will be your pass that will allow you to attend the visit that you registered for.
”Every visit is at least 30 minutes long,” said career center specialist, Robin Roth. “The [college] representative(s) focus on explaining about the majors that they offer, the school size, the cost of attending and the scholarships that are available.”
Currently, Roth is receiving many application from different colleges from all 50 states to be able to come to Annandale to talk about their college or university.
She is doing the best to schedule them all so that students get a wide variety of informations from all different schools and so that they don’t interfere with another university that are already on the agenda.
“There will be more visits through the following months but it will stop in December,” said Roth. “This event will be back in the next spring so you will have the opportunity to visit other colleges and universities that you weren’t able to go [in the Fall].”
Students are also encouraged to check for College Fairs that are offered locally because it is a good opportunity to learn about many universities and is easier and more convenient to get all the information that you need in at event.
“This is a good opportunity for every student because this is a valuable information that you will be using when you apply to college, you will see the opportunities that every college and university offer for each student and if this is the place that you think is good for you,” said Roth.
Aside from college visits and fairs students have many resources to help them find the best college fit for them.
By logging into their Family Connection account they can compare the results of their SAT, ACT and GPA with the requirements that colleges are looking for, they also have access to a useful feature which estimates their chances of acceptance.
This gives applicants an idea of what colleges are looking for and what they will offer you in relation with the career that you plan to study.
If you are a senior, take advantage of all these opportunities; they are a good way to learn about college and if you are a junior you’ll have another chance to go and start thinking about it.
Roth offered some final advice for the visits saying “sign up early for these events, write in your agenda the day that you will be going so you don’t forget and develop important questions for the day that you are attending.”
