NBA 2K17 review
Basketball fans around the world rejoiced for the highly-anticipated release of NBA 2K17. Although you could have started playing a little bit earlier 2K gaming released an add on to the game, The Prelude.
The Prelude is a free downloaded mini-preview of NBA 2K17. The Prelude allows players to take the myplayer experience to the next level. Another feature includes face scanning in the mobile app for the game. Just download the app and scan your face, and your face will be imported onto your myplayer and into the game. An additional feature is the college choices this year. You get to choose what college your myplayer will attend; you can choose between Georgetown, Arizona, Louisville, Connecticut, Illinois, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Michigan State and Wake Forest.
You get to play six games in college with a chance to win the national championship. Depending on how well you play in college, your draft stock will go up, down or remain the same.
Your draft stock will also help you to know what team or teams you could be drafted by. Myplayer also added some new features to the full game.
In this year’s game, your myplayer makes a strong connection with Justice Young, played by Michael B. Jordan. Your strong connection on and off the court can take your duo to stardom, but it is not as easy as it sounds. Myplayer is hands down NBA 2K’s most popular feature but the game has many more features; like myteam, mygym, myleague, mypark and blacktop.
“I like playing Myleague because you get to play all 82 games online or offline and you can manage your roster however you want” senior Edris Raid said on the gameplay.
Personally, I really enjoy the game speed in this years game, it is not as fast as last year’s game; and it feels more realistic. Sadly, NBA 2K17 isn’t perfect, and there are still some majors issues with the game. Whenever someone scores a certain amount of points that player automatically beginnings to get double teamed by the defending team’s CPU. The double team causes a player on offense to become wide open and any average to experienced player will be able to exploit the double team and score every possession. Also, help defense is still an issue. Sometimes players don’t come over for help defense and your opponent will get a wide open or easier shot attempt than what they should have had.
What may be the worst problem of them all is the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have four players with 90+ overalls and adding the team’s three-point shooting makes them virtually unbeatable.
“The worst thing about this year’s game is the Golden State Warriors, they are not fair to use or play against,” Raid said. Rating: 8.5/10
