Taste of Annandale festival
The Culinary class participated in the Taste of Annandale festival on Oct. 1. The class was invited for the first time to show the visitors the food that Annandale Culinary prepares.
The festival was hosted by the local park authority of Fairfax County. The event offered visitors a variety of food, music and entertainment.
“Taste of Annandale was to show the different sources, benders, restaurants, dancers anything that you could do in Annandale,” Culinary teacher Christine Gloninger said.
Aside from the food, Annandale entertainment was represented at the festival.
“There was a huge stage, a number of politicians that came, a number of dancers, the Bolivian dancers, Indian dancers, little kids from of the elementary schools, so it was great,” Gloninger said.
Students who attended the event had a great time experiencing what Annandale businesses have to offer.
“I loved the festival. I really liked the food they had at the tables and the music,” senior Marquez Summers said.
Culinary students shared the knowledge they learned in class with the guests.
“We baked biscuits that were pumpkins, sage and butter milk, we also showed them how to make them so a few people would stay and demonstrate what the skills are in order to make a good biscuit.” Gloninger said.
