MYP Fair

After spending the majority of the year working hard to perfect their Middle year’s projects, sophomores can finally sigh with relief. At the beginning of the year, all sophomore English students were introduced to the MYP project. They had various pieces of the project to complete, and were given the freedom to choose any topic to base their project off of. Some students chose to flaunt their cooking skills and cook food related to certain topics, while others dug into their inner muse and did drawings or paintings.

The purpose of the MYP project is to give students the opportunity and responsibly to complete a notable project over the course of a school year. It pushes students to learn and explore various topics, which are of interest to them. The project aims to improve student’s skills in time management, research and communication.

Although this may seem like a difficult feat, students worked hard and had a chosen supervisor to report to as they worked on their projects. This provided students with assistance throughout the long-term project. Every few months’ students had certain pieces of their project due to their supervisors to prevent procrastination and confusion. On May 7th, sophomores gathered in the gym to set up and present their projects during W4.

Sophomore Jessica Ferson took this project as an opportunity to build a 3-D version of a house. “ To complete the project, I started with sketching out ideas of what I wanted,” Ferson said.

“Personally I didn’t find the project to be hard, just time consuming. It helped me learn different skills. “

Following the presentation of their projects, students who met all the requirements were given their MYP certificates as a result of all their hard work.
