SASA holds Cultural Night
The South Asian Student Association held their first event to a crowd of students yesterday night. A cultural night aimed at teaching AHS students about South-Asian culture and traditions, the event was a ultimate success.
“We created this club with the intention of bringing together all types of students at AHS,” president and founder Elisha Musih said. ” This event was a great success as so many students from different nationalities came and enjoyed [the night]”
The evening long event from 6 to 8, had many differing booths and activities, including a sari and turban tying booth, a henna station, and fashion show.
“I organized the fashion show for the event. It was just really cool to see everyone dressed up in traditional clothing especially those who weren’t from there [South-Asia]. It’s a great way to spread our culture and feel proud of our backgrounds,” senior and secretary of SASA, Aysha Ghaffar said.
The event was also much appreciated by participating students.
“For a school as diverse as AHS, nights like these make me proud. We have so many different cultures and traditions in our school, we should have more events and programs, like this, promoting them!” senior Tahani Yosuf said.
